Ultimate Solar Resort

This is a team of seven 5th- and 6th-grade students. Students met on Zoom to learn about solar energy and to talk about their ideas and project together. The team's design goal was to create a really cool beach mansion/hotel that could be entirely solar-powered. Various team members worked on a plane, a ferry, an outdoor dance gazebo, a boat for snorkeling and scuba excursions, an off-road vehicle, a "giant outdoor fan", and the main structure/mansion, which features lots of rooms with lighting and fans. At the moment, each element is powered by its own solar panel(s). Some day, team members would like to bring all of their contributions together--and maybe even wire them together. The team is also interested in adding solar-powered showers and an oven. Besides the difficulty of not being together, team members said the most challenging parts were "stripping wires without cutting them," "taking apart my solar LED garden light (without breaking it) to get the rechargeable battery" and "having enough voltage to add all the parts I wanted."
