Though balsa wood is an excellent material for constructing blades, it does have its problems. Balsa can crack if not treated with care and is more expensive than other materials.
Plastic cardboard is often used to make political lawn signs. It is light, stiff, easy to cut, and will not break or deform. These characteristics make it a great reusable blade material.
