KidWind Challenge 2010

The KidWind Challenges in New York and Texas were a smashing success! Students competed in teams to produce the most powerful and elegant student wind turbines ever created, then tested them in our portable wind tunnels. Fun was had by all, and the winners received cash prizes. One of the highlights for us this year was bringing the KidWind Challenge to Dallas, TX, and the largest wind conference in the world - Windpower 2010! About the Challenge

The KidWind Challenge was started in New York in 2009 with a $25,000 grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). These funds were used to build a portable wind tunnel and move the Challenge between four locations during the winter and spring, where students can bring their turbines for competition.

At WindPower 2010, AWEA generously donated space to hold the KidWind Challenge.
