Next Era Energy is a leading clean energy provider with natural gas, wind, solar, hydroelectric and nuclear power plants in operation in 25 states. More than 90 percent of Next Era Energy's electricity is generated by clean fuels. In addition, they are the nation's leader in wind energy generation and operate the two largest
solar fields in the world.

 

Next Era Energy has sponsored a number of workshops in West Texas in school districts located near wind farms that they have installed. These one day events help teachers understand wind energy from a science and engineering standpoint and also provide them with the materials and resources to execute lessons in the classroom. Over the last 3 years we have held very successful events in the Abilene, Sterling City and McCamey school districts. This fall we will hold a teacher training in Austin with over 100 teachers in attendance.

 

Through the support of Next Era Energy we have been able to help 100s of teachers in Texas integrate wind energy into their classroom in a meaningful and engaging fashion. This will propel some of these students into wind energy careers that are opening up all over Texas.

 

In the future, we are planning to hold more events in TX, but also expand our training to Next Era Energy wind farms in North Dakota, Iowa and Colorado.
